Trip hop bad boy, Tricky, returns with his first full-length of new material in five years! Knowle West Boy – named for the neighborhood in which he [Tricky] grew up – is being widely held as a return to form. Indeed, online magazine, musicOMH.com, states the songwriting on 'Knowle to be on a par with Tricky's work from his groundbreaking debut, Maxinquaye – some of it, anyway. The earlier return of fellow trip hop pioneers, Portishead (in April) with their third studio album, Third – also after a long hiatus – makes Tricky's reappearance all the more welcome. The sound of Bristol is back – though I remain quite anxious for a new album from Massive Attack! Knowle West Boy will be released on July 7 in the U.K, and is slated for a September 9th U.S. release. The album will be released on Tricky's own Brown Punk label in conjunction with the Domino Records. | Holmes July 2, 2008 09:07 PM PDT This is such good news! I love most everything Tricky has done, but Maxinquaye is among my faves. Glad to hear it. Hope you're doing well, Mervin. | ||
