CNN is reporting that the California ban on same-sex marriage has been struck down. The California Supreme Court today ruled that the ban was unconstitutional. This ruling makes California the second state to allow same-sex couples to marry legally. You can read all about it here at CNN (and also at TIME).
I must say – these are truly exciting times in America! For one thing, we may very well have our first black president in November. Indeed, the all-but finished Democratic primaries have given us a glimpse of a glorious future (perhaps) as both a woman and an African-American have shown promise as future Heads of State and given us hope for a break from the biased and discriminatory traditions that have colored America since its founding – well, at least Barack has run a clean campaign!
It is my sincere hope that America doesn't degenerate into the predictably divisive trends that all, but, insured George W. Bush his second term in 2004; California has shown us the way – let's move forward.
I know this has been buzzed all over the blogosphere, but I just had to throw in my two cents!
The Ones – that fun trio behind the 2000 monster club hit, "Flawless" – are back in prime form with a great track and video to boot! The song is appropriately called "When We Get Together" and it comes with a brilliant video to boot!
In keeping with the song's theme of "togetherness", the video features cameos by a plethora of iconic artists, among them Debbie Harry, Jody Watley, Ultra Naté, Cazwell, Ari Gold, the Scissor Sisters and Mike Ruiz. The video is directed by Karl Giant, the same genius behind the brilliant Ultra Naté video, "Give it All You Got" (2007).
PR Newswire is reporting that singer Madonna is to make a historic, first time appearance on BET's 106 & Park. This follows the Material Girl's interview with the legendary Donnie Simpson – a first generation Black Entertainment Television personality (Video Soul) – on his WPGC radio show, The Donnie Simpson Morning Show, the week of April 10. The word is that the show's hosts – Terrence and Rocsi – will give the Material Girl a welcome like no other. Madonna's appearance on 106 & Park is scheduled for Friday, May 2, at 6pm EST.
Madonna recently released her eleventh studio album, Hard Candy – a decidedly more urban recording than her past few full-lengths (with flourishes of dance-pop and '80s nostalgia thrown in for good measure).
