Hillary and Obama in Austin!

Photobucket

Democratic presidential hopefuls – Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama – are set to debate right here in Austin, Texas! The event will take place right at my old Alma Mater, the University of Texas at Austin.

Of course, news of the imminent appearance of Obama and Clinton – two of the more interesting (and qualified) presidential aspirants in recent U.S. history – has turned the city on its ear. I, for one, am highly enthused that the Democratic primaries are so energized! This is not to say that I am dismissing the Republicans chances at the White House. Indeed, if history has taught us one thing – especially given the highly questionable circumstances by which George W. Bush acquired the U.S. presidency in 2000 – it's that there's a highly tenacious segment of the conservative brain trust and/or political machine that doesn't allow something as trivial as votes and popularity to keep it from its goals. It is my sincere hope that the Dems have learned to not underestimate this...DRIVE....within the conservative movement.

Upcoming Release: Chris Joss - "Teraphonic Overdubs"

Photobucket

Fates be praised! Is there ANYTHING that Chris Joss can't do?! Joss' latest album – Teraphonic Overdubs – finds the ever-innovative multi-instrumentalist in fine form indeed. Drawing equally from a sonic palette that boasts breakbeats, disco rhythms, funk, dub and (most beautifully) trip hop – "Get With It" is beautiful – the venerable Joss sculpts a brilliant electronic landscape that is at once spontaneous and organic. Chris' trademark proclivity with '70s blaxploitation themes remains a pervasive theme throughout this gorgeous collection; on tracks like "Fatality Strikes", "Slack The Slammer" and "Surgelator Action", Chris keeps the soul, while also expanding the consciousness of the listener.

Chris Joss' Teraphonic Overdubs is set for a Stateside release of February 12 – and promises to be one of the great electronic breakbeat/dub releases of the year!
